Positioning Fence & Transfer

We offer varying styles of positioning systems designed to match specific mill requirements.

The Pop-up Fence is an economical solution for Planermills that require up to 4 defect trim solutions at speeds up to 130 lpm. Its simple design utilizes multiple air cylinder gates for staging ending decisions to eliminate the need for skids in the transfer. Ending is accomplished over multiple lug spaces to ensure accurate positioning.

For optimized Planermills that need many ending positions, positioning fences can be configured in 1, 2, 3 or 4 stage fences with stacked air cylinders, linear hydraulic cylinders or linear roller screw. Air cylinder fences are available in increments of 1" or optionally in 1/2" increments. Linear fences are capable of positioning to 1/10" accuracy.

NM offers very high speed fences for applications up to 200 lpm.

Grabber

The 'Grabber' board positioner was designed to work with the Trimmer fence to provide precise board positioning prior to trimming. The multi-stage air fence positions boards from 0" to minus 12" in ½" increments.

The 'Grabber' system includes a high resolution planview sensor that scans the lumberline end of the board to detect its position directly downstream of the fence. Any fine positioning that may be required is achieved by the 'Grabber' mechanism, repositioning the piece to 1/10" accuracy as it enters the Trimmer. Grabber is available as a retrofit behind any existing positioning system.

Lineshaft Trimmer

With 300+ systems installed to date, our Lineshaft Trimmer has a solid reputation for reliability, ease of maintenance and quality trim finish.

Low Profile Trimmer

Increased safety, accessibility and production were the driving considerations for designing the Low Profile Trimmer. Standing at a compact overall height of 5'-2 ½", it allows excellent lines of sight. Top doors open to provide safe access to the spacious saw change and maintenance area, and act as guardrails for maintenance functions. The Low Profile Trimmer is easily installed into existing systems, non-optimized production lines or as an integral part of an optimized Trimmer/Sorter line.
