Newnes-McGehee (NM) offers a line of high technology equipment for Planermill Infeed systems. Our unique designs feature efficient movement of lumber to ensure there is always "wood under the knife". Electronic control systems allow fine-tuning by wood size and length for repeatable performance.

A standard system consists of Package Infeed Chains, Tilt Hoist, Spill Table, Stick Handling System, Planer Feed and Storage Tables, Consoles and Controls. Lug Loaders, Drop-out Gates and Moisture Sensing Transfers can easily be integrated to suit mill requirements.

Many degrees of automation are available:

• Automatic package infeed, tilting and spilling
• Automatic resetting of the lift knees to the pickup mode
• Universal speed control using Variable Frequency Drives by product width and length

Beam Tilt Hoist

The Beam Style Tilt Hoist can be configured to handle any package size - including a full crib load. A two-speed hydraulic cylinder hoist precisely indexes packages without mechanical clutches or brakes. The tilt platform is sheeted to reduce damage to sticks.

Can be retrofit into existing production lines. Linear Temposonic control is optional for solid packages.

Continuous Tilt Hoist

NM's Continuous Tilt Hoist is the only "continuous" hoist, with a gap time of less than five seconds between packages. The Auxiliary Hoist's rugged "wrist joint" design requires only 18 inches of height above the package spill location which makes it an ideal fit in low clearance installations.

The design of the Auxiliary Hoist allows easy access for maintenance and cleanup, with all moving parts above the main column or outboard of lumber.

Stick Collection System

NM offers several different styles of stick collection systems to suit any mill requirement. All our systems are able to remove broken sticks, and can be configured to work with any stick length.

Systems for collecting Dunnage blocks as well as sticks are also available. Most configurations use Stick bunks, however solutions using custom bunks or direct routing back to the Sawmill Stick Placer are also available. All systems feature rugged construction and proven reliability.

Planer Infeed Table

Our Planer Infeed equipment ensures maximum throughput. Our equipment features Variable Speed drive technology and photoelectric controls to close gaps between boards before the planer. Feed rates can be set by board width and length to match the planer feed speed. Feed speeds are controlled "globally" using the WinTally sorter management system as the central storage and control location. Control consoles can also have local adjustment of speed control if desired.
